About SURPRISE - #48

"Everything you can imagine is real." - Pablo Picasso

This area that I have found in Boulder Canyon is breathtaking. The way that the water runs over the rocks is so mesmerizing... I definitely love warming up to the spot with a few songs on my guitar beside the water.

In the winter, spots of snow from recent snowfalls cling to the exposed rocks. This exposed snow appears to be floating in the water. The effect with the snow happens nearly all winter, but every time I see it I am surprised at how amazing it really is.

The flood in 2013 had turned up the creek beds to reveal new rocks, previously hidden from the surface. These rocks were begging to be balanced, so I went to work. It was challenging to get something that would stay up in the wind!

After several fallen structures, I found a combination that could hold together beautifully in the strong winds. My favorite part about this edition is the way the curves of the stones are such a natural compliment to the snow and the hidden rocks beneath the water... A beautiful surprise that I wasn't expecting!
