Find The Bliss

 

Let’s say you and I are sailing along a calm sea at sunset…

The sun is glowing as it sets along the horizon and we’re both smiling, taking a huge sigh of relief.

Maybe you’re worrying about something you have to do when we get back to shore. I’m looking at the edge of the boat trying to ignore my fear of deep water. For the most part, it’s a relaxing moment of bliss for both of us at sunset.

As we start to head back home, storm clouds roll in. Waves consistently get larger. Rain starts to pour. The sky gets dark. Our boat is rocking and we’re looking at each other in fear, wondering how we’re even going to get to shore! The fear makes our senses stronger.

At the top of the boat, a single light shines through the waves crashing over us. Instead of hiding from the storm, we see our situation and start to fully experience the incredible power each wave brings.

Who knows if we’re going to make it home, but right now it’s one hell of a ride and we’re hanging on.

At this point, we’re lucky for each new breath we’ve been given. Then, we notice how the waves have patterns to their flow. There are opportunities to work with the wave and sail faster. Our belief to take risks is the only thing allowing us to navigate through the storm.

Wave after wave, we keep the faith. Until finally in one moment, we see the flash of a lighthouse in the distance guiding us home. It’s a moment of pure joy.

Hours later back on shore, we sit next to the fire and laugh at the flames. Somehow, we survived another day. Another victory.

During both easy and difficult moments, I encourage you to find the bliss. No moment will last forever, so all you can do is soak it in and learn what it’s teaching you.

When things are bright, notice the abundance that surrounds us.

When things are dark, that’s when we find out what kind of light we carry.
