About This Artwork

“Do not be embarrassed by your failures, learn from them and start again.” - Richard Branson

The Golden Gate Bridge is a beautiful combination of art and engineering, and it’s powerful statement was the inspiration behind this edition. I always am left speechless when I experience this bridge in person, due to the ultimate simplicity and power that it displays.

Getting to this exact spot on the beach took a bit of time to commute to from the location I was staying at in the city, but when I finally arrived at the beach I became incredibly happy. Nothing is more rewarding than putting everything into the journey and having the location reward me for my efforts. The sun was out, seagulls were flying around, it wasn’t too crowded, and the beautiful sound of the waves crashing on the sand was the icing on the cake.

After settling on this exact location, I began collecting stones and finding a suitable balance for the amazing location. The scenery was incredible, and the balance had to match the pure sophistication of the bridge. The ocean breeze was strong enough to destroy a fragile balance, but delicate enough to allow for something beautiful to be created. After working with the stones for 2 hours and pushing through multiple collapses, I found the point between challenge and skill.

The balance held for about 30 minutes, giving me enough time to perfectly compose the shot. As people walked by in disbelief, it reaffirmed why I am on this journey. Living in the city can be stressful and finding clarity can be quite difficult when everything is in a constant state of sophisticated chaos.

Each moment is full of power, but when the mind is unclear and chaotic this power can become diminished. These stones didn’t magically balance themselves. Only through hard work, learning from previous failures, and true belief in myself was I able to execute my vision.

In all my editions my goal is to give you a tool to become aware of your own invisible mental barriers that flare up, and then destroy them. The destruction of doubt will help you unlock your greatest dreams. After all, the Golden Gate Bridge started as a sketch in an engineer’s notebook… and only through hard work and determination were they able to manifest the dream.
