CONSISTENCY

I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.
— Bruce Lee

EDITION 119

Consistency has become one of my favorite themes over the past few years. It used to be something that I really struggled with and led to a lot of hardship, but now I find that consistency has become one of my greatest strengths. It has led to everything that is abundant in my life.

I’ll always remember that moment years ago when I first learned how to balance a rock on it’s nose. Compared to this edition, that first balance may have looked like nothing. But that first balance was so powerful as it led to the next one, and the next one - until I arrived here at this moment to create this specific balance.

Even this balance may seem like nothing compared to years from now when I create Edition 819, but the important part is that I stay grateful of each moment as it comes and acknowledge each small gift that I have given myself by continuing to put in the work.

The way the sea shapes the rough stone into a smooth form over many years of contact is a great reminder of the patience that true consistency requires. It’s not a quick fix or an instant result. Instead it’s a series of many small moments added on top of each other to create something great.

You can only balance the top rock by starting with the bottom one and slowly building the idea with each breath you take.
